'Arsenal considering loan market after Merino breaks foot'
Arsenal midfielder Mikel Merino is expected to be out for a considerable period with a suspected broken bone in his foot, according to The Athletic's David Ornstein.
Arsenal are surveying the market for a potential loan as short-term cover but there are no guarantees of anything materialising at this stage.
A precise timeline for Merinos return remains unclear as assessments continue.
Arsenal have encountered a number of injury problems during the first half of the season, with Riccardo Calafiori, Jurrien Timber, Martin Odegaard, Ben White and Kai Havertz all spending significant time on the sidelines.

How Archer's move to Rangers could hinge on Mateta deal
Latest from Your Site News' Sahil Jadika:
How about some transfer dominos?
Cameron Archers move to Rangers is hanging in the balance ahead of deadline day.
Initial discussions with Southampton over a loan deal for the forward had progressed well, with the player looking set to move to Glasgow.
However, with Adam Armstrong likely to depart the St Marys club for Wolves, it seems the Sky Bet Championship club could want a replacement before sanctioning a move for the 24-year-old, who has scored four goals in all competitions this season.
There could also be a knock-on effect should Jean-Philippe Mateta not depart Crystal Palace for AC Milan, which could impact Jorgen Strand Larsens move to Wolves, which in turn raises the question of whether Armstrong would move to Molineux.
O'Riley to return to Brighton
An agreement has been reached for Matt ORiley to return to Brighton from his loan with Marseille.
The club are keen to boost their squad until the end of the season and O'Riley returns a better player after his time in the Champions League.
Marseille missed out on the knockout stages so need to readjust their squad with less games, and are open to saving further expenditure agreed in the deal.

Spurs 'still in the market' as Deadline Day looms
Thomas Frank says Tottenham are "still in the market" for new signings with less than 24 hours left of the transfer window.
Spurs were without 11 senior players against Manchester City due to injury, but came back from 2-0 down to earn a 2-2 draw.
Tottenham have signed midfielder Conor Gallagher and left-back Souza so far this month and Frank isn't ruling out further additions to help their depleted squad.
He told Your Site: "I feel 100 per cent support from Vinai (Venkatesham, CEO), Yohan (Lange, sporting director) and the Lewis family (owners) - we are definitely still in the market.
"We're hit a little bit hard with injuries, but let's see."
Sarr starts for Strasbourg before Chelsea return
Latest from Your Site News' Kaveh Solekhol:
Mamadou Sarr is starting this evening for Strasbourg against Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1.
Chelsea are expected to recall Sarr from his loan at their sister club in France after tonights game at the Stade de la Meinau.
Aaron Anselmino will then move in the opposite direction on loan from Chelsea to Strasbourg for the rest of the season.
Anselmino was recalled from his loan at Borussia Dortmund last Sunday.
Chelsea remain in talks to sign Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes but any agreement is likely to see the 20-year-old centre back move to Chelsea in the summer.
Chelsea signed Sarr in a 12m deal from Strasbourg in January last year.
They signed Anselmino from Boca Juniors for 15m in the summer of 2024.

O'Neill wants to keep Engles amid Forest interest
Celtic boss Martin ONeill said he absolutely wants to keep Arne Engels at the club.
Your Site News revealed that the Scottish champions have rejected Nottingham Forests 14m bid for the midfielder this evening.
The Hoops were not planning to sell Engels in this window and the player was said to be relaxed about his future and happy to stay in Glasgow.
ONeill is believed to be a keen admirer of the Belgium international, who signed for Celtic for a record fee of 11m in August 2024.
And speaking in his post-match press conference today, he said: Absolutely (I want to keep him) no question about it.
He later was told of Forests bid and he replied: I didnt know a thing about it. If theyve done it then they must have done it during the game. And Id want it rebuffed unless it was 100m and then I think the board would step in then!
Breaking news: Geertruida deal to Liverpool OFF
Latest from Your Site News' Keith Downie:
Liverpool's deal to sign Lutsharel Geertruida is now off.
It was too complex a deal to thrash out with the window running down, and the alternatives for Sunderland wouldn't have been an upgrade.
As a result, the on-loan Geertruida is staying at Sunderland this window.
