Sandro Tonali is growing increasingly frustrated at Newcastle and was heard venting his frustration at the situation to a member of club staff following the Carabao Cup defeat by Manchester City, according to The Sun.
Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea are among the clubs linked with the midfielder.
However, Eddie Howe said earlier this week that the club does not intend to sell one of their star players and reiterated Tonali's importance.
Van Ginkel announces retirement
Former Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel has hung up his boots aged just 33.
He spent nine years with the Blues, but made just four appearances due to injury, which followed him through his career, where he also played for Stoke.
In an Instagram post, he said: "After 16 years, I'm saying goodbye to professional football.
"A journey filled with highs and lows, lessons learned and memories I'll cherish forever. Thanks to everyone who stood by me along the way. Proud of the past. Ready for the next chapter."

Chelsea compensation for Ngumoha's Reds move decided
Liverpool are being forced to pay Chelsea up to 6.8m in compensation for Rio Ngumoha, The Athletic reports.
A tribunal decided the Reds must pay 2.8m for the forward, which could rise by a further 4m, after the 17-year-old moved to from Chelsea's academy in 2024.
The Blues will also be due 20 per cent of any profit if he is sold.
Arias considering return to Brazil
Wolves forward Jhon Arias is mulling over an offer from Palmeiras.
The clubs have agreed a fee of 21.7m (25m) to make that happen, but the player is still deciding whether to return to Brazil.
Arias signed for Wolves only last summer for 15m from Fluminense. The transfer window is still open in Brazil until March 3.
Agbadou closes in on Besiktas move
Wolves defender Emmanuel Agbadou is in Turkey today to sign for Besiktas.
The clubs have agreed a 17.4m (20m) deal for his transfer, with the Turkish window still open until 9pm tonight (UK time).
Wolves signed Agbadou in January 2025 for just over 16m from French club Reims.
