Breaking news: Mateta deal in doubt?

AC Milan are currently evaluating whether to proceed with their deal to sign Jean-Philippe Mateta in this transfer window, according to Sky in Italy.

The deal was held up while Palace were finding a replacement.

They now have an agreement with Wolves to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen for up to 48m, which paved the way for Mateta to depart.

The Frenchman was yesterday waiting for permission to finalise a move, but Palace only gave him the greenlight today.

However, Christopher Nkunku has now made it clear to Milan that he does not want to leave. Roma and Fenerbahce were interested in the former Chelsea forward.

Milan are now weighing up whether to sign Mateta in this window or wait until the summer. A deal was in place for the striker to move to the Italian giants.

Morecambe re-appoint Bentley

Jim Bentley has been confirmed as the new manager of Morecambe.

The 49-year-old has signed a deal until the end of the 2025/26 season.

He replaces Ashvir Singh Johal, who departed by mutual consent earlier this week.

Bentley played over 300 games for the Shrimps between 2002 and 2011, before managing the club between 2011 and 2019.

He told the club's official website: "When I was asked to come back as manager, I was excited.

"I've had a couple of calls about other roles, and I didn't feel it. They've asked me to come back here and I'm more than happy to do that."

Blackburn sign Afolayan

Blackburn have signed Dapo Afolayan from St Pauli for an undisclosed fee.

The 28-year-old has signed a deal until the summer of 2027.

Afolayan joined the German club from Bolton in January 2023 and played 93 times, scoring 16 goals and providing seven assists.

However, he appeared just seven times in the Bundesliga this season and just once from the start.

"I dont know, I dont know.

"All focus was on the game, we signed one player two days ago to replace Adama, we signed Oscar, he will help us give us in moments what we need, lets see.

"My focus was totally on this game. Man United, after two results for them, we expected a tough, tough game to play here with great individual qualities the team reacted well to many circumstances in the game.

"We are trying to do something, we are good if not. This group of players are showing great commitment. Oscar Bobb, Kenny Tete is coming back, Calvin is back even if we dont have news until tomorrow."
